A Home loss in local derby against table toppers!

Saturday’s game saw High Lane take on top of the league Hazel Grove at Middlewood. Hazel Grove won the toss and elected to bowl which was a good decision in the end as, unfortunately, High Lane were all out for 83.

T Eiselt top scored with 26 off 62 balls having to battle very hard in the early stages off the game. Z Chaudary also stuck around facing 62 balls scoring 3, at a strike rate lower than his skipper. T Street also batting well scoring 5* off 37 balls, young Streeta doing his job towards the end of a generally poor batting display from Lane.

It was a battle of the rascals as T Eiselt opened the bowling from the Horse Field and finished with figures of 0-18. A Knowles opening up at the Pavilion end bowling 3 overs for 16 rans. A bowling change from captain J McCarthy bringing on his younger brother M ‘Beans’ McCarthy. A good spell of bowling from Mike taking 2 wickets for 22 of his 6 gave High Lane a slight bit of hope.
L Jeffs replaced Ty on his dayboo and bowling excellently taking 1-14 off his 4 overs. S Clarke came on towards the end taking 1-2 off his 1 over. Hazel Grove remain top of the league taking 18 points knocking of the total 4 wickets down.

A weekend off for High Lane 1’s next Saturday will give skipper some time to think about selection before we take on Whaley Bridge, again at home, on the 24th July. That date is also the grand reopening of the Pavilion at HLCC.
