Chorlton power hitting display carries High Lane to first victory of the season.

16 May 2022

With the weather set fair week three saw High Lane travel to picturesque Pott Shrigley, and with 'The Lane' still looking to register their first win of the campaign a tough test lay ahead.

The hosts won the toss, and with the wicket looking like it may offer assistance early elected to bowl. This proved to be the case, as after some early resistance From Jeffs (33) High Lane found themselves 50-4, and then 86-5. At this point R. Eiselt and Chorlton met at the crease, and they set about rebuilding the innings. Soon the 50 partnership was reached, then Chorlton brought up his 50, dispatching a full toss over the square leg boundary for 6. Setting the tone for the final overs as the pair kicked on to an unbroken century partnership Eiselt finishing 32* and Chorlton completing a run-a-ball 78* including several huge sixes and taking High Lane to 187-5 off their 45.

In reply, a bit of luck saw High Lane take early wickets, and from there tight bowling and good fielding - including an excellent run out from Clarke - and regular wickets (M. McCarthy taking 4-29) stopped the hosts building any significant partnerships and eventually saw Pott Shrigley restricted to 143-9 at the end of innings. Meaning for the first time this season it was back to The Bull's Head Pub, High Lane to claim winning beers.

Next Saturday High Lane look to make it 2 in 2 at home to Buxworth. And the Sunday team host Marple/Compstall as they search for their first win of the season.
