HLCC U13 Celebrate a great season of progression together!

With the league season coming to a close the U13 celebrated through an intra-club training match @ Middlewood.  It's testament to the progression these lads have made that we were able to field two sides in a competitive fixture and showcase to parents and followers the development of our team over recent months.

Our newly qualified coaches (Phil and Nick) organised the 15 lads who were available into two balanced teams quickly named the 'Blues' and 'Berries' in celebration and thanks to our junior team sponsor (Blueberries) who have supported us throughout the year.

The 'Berries' took to the field under the joint captaincy of Tom Barber and Finn Julier who quickly used their experience to set a challenging field as Adam and Oli G. strode to the middle.  A steady start was followed by consistent batting as pairs protected their wickets.  The fireworks started as George Hardie and Ben Finley set a competitive target of 268.

The 'Berries' innings had to contend with a strong bowling attack with 8 wickets being shared across the team.  Special mention for the great debuts all round for Robert Scar, Noah Howarth and Harry Longworth and the ever improving performance of Oli Hall.  Toby Julier never looked out of place in the field playing with much older lads and is certainly one to watch for the future.  'The Berries' finished on 216 handing a victory to 'The Blues' but we all knew the performance and enjoyment of the team was more important than the result.

Overall a great evening with special thanks to Peter @ Reflections for the donation of a cheescake for the team which was consumed with gusto.  We will be exending the season with training and friendly matches continuing to give the lads some much needed time outdoors after such a challenging year.

Thanks again to all the parents without who support none of this would be possible and to the coaches who give so much of their time for the benefit of others.  Good performance all round!
